DESCRIPTION:Aleksandra Świgut\, pianist\, soloist\, and chamber musician\, holds a doctorate in musical arts\, and is a teacher at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.\nCritics consider her one of the most distinctive personalities on the classical music scene.\nWinner of the 17th International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition in Bergen and special awards: the audience and orchestra prizes\, and the prestigious Steinway Prizewinners Concert Network award. \nAs a proponent of period piano performance\, she won second prize at the International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw. She was also invited to perform solo and chamber recitals during Polish Music Week at the Polish Pavilion at EXPO Osaka 2025\, and at the Dubai Opera\, where she promoted the music of Polish composers. \nShe has released four albums: “Portraits of Nature” featuring music by Edvard Grieg\, with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra and maestro Michał Klauza; a CD of music by Fryderyk Chopin\, recorded on an Erard period piano for the Fryderyk Chopin Institute; and a CD of music by Witold Maliszewski for the DUX label\, with the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra and Przemysław Neumann. In 2014\, she and cellist Marcin Zdunik recorded a CD of works by Robert Schumann\, released by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw. \nHe also performs with his sister\, violinist of the Royal Opera in Stockholm – Agnieszka Świgut\, and with violinist Janusz Wawrowski\, realizing the recording project “Free but Lonely” with all Violin Sonatas by Johannes Brahms on original historical instruments – Stradivarius 1685 and Erard 1858. \nShe composed the music for the play “Dancing Konrad\,” directed by Piotr Tomaszuk and produced by the Wierszalin Theatre. The play was presented at the KAI Theatre in Tokyo (2023) and at Vilnius University (2024). \nA scholarship recipient of the National Children’s Fund (2003-2010)\, which currently supports her teaching activities\, she has received multiple scholarships from the Ministry of Culture\, the Franciszek Wybrańczyk Foundation\, and the German Jutting Foundation. In 2020\, she received a scholarship for outstanding young scientists awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Młoda Polska scholarship. In 2023\, she became the first recipient of the prestigious Velotalent scholarship funded by Velobank for the most outstanding cultural figures. DESCRIPTION:Laureate of the F. Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1985\, winner of numerous top prizes at international piano competitions in Milan\, Palm Beach\, Monza\, Dublin\, Calgary. Gold Medallist at the A. Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv. \nFor more than 30 years Jablonski performs solo\, chamber and with orchestras in Europe\, Americas\, Asia and Israel. Performed for ballet\, opera and theatre spectacles as well as for spectacular\, multidiscipline projects such as Scriabin’s “Promethee” with Duesseldorfer Symphoniker\, Ballet “Fortepianissimo” at the National Opera in Warsaw\, original piano version of the Debussy’s Pelleas et Melisande. He was opening the Wiener Opernball in Vienna together with the Vienna State Opera Ballet. Jablonski also performed for crowd of thousands with Grant Park Orchestra at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago. Recently\, he performed under V. Gergiev and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra during fundraising event which was streamed live and recorded by Finnish Radio and TV. In 2018 he is returning to the Grand Theatre – National Opera twice to perform music by F. Chopin for two large scale ballet spectacles: “The Lady of the Camellias” (April and June) and another one in November 2018. \nIn 2017 Jablonski started recording complete works by F. Chopin both on modern and historical instruments for the F. Chopin National Institute (NIFC) in Warsaw\, Poland. \nFull Professor of the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw\, Poland from 2004-2017. Piano Faculty of the Mount Royal University in Calgary\, The Conservatory (where he lives since 1998). He also teaches at the University of Calgary. SUMMARY:Magdalena Filipczak
DESCRIPTION:Violinist Magdalena Filipczak has been praised by The Arts Desk as “a musical chameleon.” The New York Concert Review hailed her Carnegie Hall debut  “a concert not to be forgotten…the vehicle of violin wizardry.” Magdalena has appeared as a soloist\, recitalist\, and chamber musician on some of the world’s most prestigious stages across Europe\, and Americas\, including Wigmore Hall\, Het Concertgebouw of Amsterdam\, the Tallinn Philharmonic in Estonia\, Cracow Philharmonic\, the Baltic Philharmonic in Poland\, and Curitiba Philharmonic in Brazil. Since 2022\, she has been collaborating as a soloist with the International Conducting Academy (ICA) in London. Among Magdalena’s many international competition successes\, she is the winner of the IV Heino Eller International Violin Competition in Estonia\, as well as the Gold Prize at the 2018 Manhattan International Music Competition. For her achievements and contributions to culture\, she was awarded the Młoda Polska Scholarship by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. \nMagdalena’s acclaimed debut solo CD\, Essence of Violin\, was celebrated by The Strad magazine as “glittering” and “captivating.” Magdalena’s solos can be heard also on Rosalía’s new album Lux\, the BBC series Thief at the British Museum\, CDs by Tim Garland\, and chamber albums by Gruppo Montebello and Peter Gregson (on Deutsche Grammophon). Her performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3\, Chicago WFMT\, Dutch Radio 4\, Canadian Radio\, and numerous European TV and radio stations. Upcoming releases include a CD with the renowned pianist Peter Frankl and an EP with her brother\, pianist Łukasz Filipczak\, recorded on the legendary ex-Ida Haendel Stradivarius. \nIn Autumn 2025 Magdalena was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Performance degree from the Graduate Center (CUNY) in New York\, where she was a recipient of the prestigious Graduate Center Fellowship. Her final thesis on Britten’s Violin Concerto and His Early Period are published online. She is also a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London as well as Itzhak Perlman’s The Perlman Music Program. Additionally\, Magdalena studied classical and jazz singing. As an inspiring educator\, she has taught at music institutions in London and New York. \nMagdalena will be performing on a fine violin kindly loaned to her through the Beare’s International Violin Society. \nMagdalena is accompanied by pianist Sam Armstrong. \nHailed as ‘a major new talent’ by International Piano and a ‘pianist of splendid individuality’ by The Arts Desk British pianist Sam Armstrong gave solo debut recitals at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam\, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York as well as at the Wigmore Hall in London. \nStrongly drawn to chamber music\, Sam has performed with musicians including Elina Buksha\, Valeriy Sokolov\, Krzysztof Chorleski\, Fenella Humphreys\, Viviane Hagner\, Hannah Roberts\, Ralph Kirshbaum\, Alban Gerhardt and Pablo Barragan. He has appeared at festivals including Aldeburgh\, Cheltenham\, Krzyzowa Music\, Mecklenburg-Vorpommen\, Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music\, Ravinia and in venues such as Seoul Arts Centre\, Esplanade Singapore\, Kumho Art Hall Seoul\, and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall. He has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3\, Radio Suisse-Romande/Espace 2\, NPO Radio 4\, WQXR New York\, WFMT Chicago and Radio New Zealand. \nSam maintains a regular partnership with the soprano Katharine Dain\, releasing their first album “Regards sur l’Infini” in November 2020. The disc won the prestigious Edison Klassiek award in 2021 as well as being selected as The Guardian’s Classical album of the week. Their second disc “Forget This Night” was chosen as BBC Music Magazine’s Song CD of the month and also received major acclaim from the Times\, Gramophone\, as well as in the Dutch press NRC\, Volkskrant & Trouw. \nHighlights of recent seasons have been recitals at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam\, De Doelen Rotterdam\, Concertgebouw Brugge & International Lied Festival Zeist with Katharine Dain\, Wigmore Hall with violinist Geneva Lewis\, National Concert Hall Dublin with cellist Ariana Kashefi\, as well as Perth Concert Hall\, Bath and Lammermuir festivals with violinist Irène Duval. \nHis own studies were with Helen Krizos in Manchester at the Royal Northern College of Music and subsequently in New York with Richard Goode at Mannes College of Music. He won the most important awards for piano in both institutions: first prize in the RNCM Piano Recital Prize and the Nadia Reisenberg Debut Award from Mannes. He also worked with John O’Conor in Dublin and in masterclasses with Leon Fleisher\, Menahem Pressler\, Mitsuko Uchida\, Murray Perahia and Pierre-Laurent Aimard. He also studied song repertoire extensively with Cristina Stanescu in New York and Roger Vignoles in London. \nSam is currently Senior Tutor in Keyboard Chamber Music and Professor of Piano at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. SUMMARY:Peter Donohoe
DESCRIPTION:Peter Donohoe was born in Manchester in 1953.  He studied at Chetham’s School of Music for seven years\, graduated in music at Leeds University and went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music with Derek Wyndham and in Paris with Olivier Messiaen and Yvonne Loriod.  He is acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of our time\, for his musicianship\, stylistic versatility and commanding technique. \nIn recent seasons Donohoe has appeared with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra\, BBC Philharmonic and Concert Orchestra\, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra\, St. Petersburg Philharmonia\, RTE National Symphony Orchestra\, Belarusian State Symphony Orchestra\, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.  He has undertaken a UK tour with the Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra\, as well as giving concerts in many South American and European countries\, China\, Hong Kong\, South Korea\, Russia and the USA.  Other past and future engagements include performances of all three MacMillan piano concertos with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra; a “marathon” recital of Scriabin’s complete piano sonatas at Milton Court; an all-Mozart series at Perth Concert Hall; concertos with the Moscow State Philharmonic Orchestra\, St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra at London’s Royal Festival Hall\, and a residency at the Buxton Music Festival. \nDonohoe is also in high demand as a jury member for international competitions.  He has recently served on the juries at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (2011 & 2015); Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels (2016); Georges Enescu Competition in Bucharest (2016); Hong Kong International Piano Competition (2016); Vlassenko Piano Competition and Festival (2017); Alaska International e-Competition (2018); the Concours de Genève Competition (2018); Ferrol Piano Competition (2022)\, and Hong Kong International Piano Competition (2022)\, among many others both within the UK and abroad. \nDonohoe’s most recent disks include Bacewicz: Orchestral Works Vol. 2 and an exploration of Busoni’s solo piano works with Chandos; Taneyev & Schumann: Piano Quintets with Signum; Granados & Albeniz with Chandos\, and a section of waltzes of Ravel\, Schumann\, Debussy & Chopin with SOMM.  Other recent recording include six volumes of Mozart Piano Sonatas (SOMM); Haydn Keyboard Works Vol 1 (Signum); Grieg Lyric Pieces Vol 1 (Chandos); Dora Pejacevic Piano Concerto (Chandos); Brahms & Schumann viola sonatas with Philip Dukes (Chandos)\, and Busoni: Elegies and Toccata (Chandos)\, which was nominated for the BBC Music Magazine Award. \nDonohoe has performed with all the major London orchestras\, as well as orchestras from across the world: the Royal Concertgebouw\, Leipzig Gewandhaus\, Munich Philharmonic\,  Swedish Radio\, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France\, Vienna Symphony\, and Czech Philharmonic Orchestras .  He has also played with the Berliner Philharmonika in Sir Simon Rattle’s opening concerts as Music Director.  He made his twenty-second appearance at the BBC Proms in 2012 and has appeared at many other festivals including six consecutive visits to the Edinburgh Festival\, La Roque d’Anthéron in France\, and at the Ruhr and Schleswig Holstein Festivals in Germany. \nThe 23/24 season kicked off with Peter Donohoe performing as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra and Simon Rattle with four performances of Messiaen’s Turangalila-Symphonie in London\, Edinburgh and Bucharest.  Following a March 2024 South American Tour\, notable performances in the 24/25 season included concerts with the Symphony Orchestra of India\, the Georges Enescu Symphony Orchestra in Bucharest\, Vox Arma Deus in Philadelphia (USA)\, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Cadogan Hall.  The season also featured recitals at the Fondación Juan March in Madrid\, the Chopin Piano Festival in Prishtina\, Kosovo\, and at various UK festivals including the Ludlow Piano Festival\, Newbury Spring Festival and Ulverston Music Festival. \nPeter Donohoe will play the following programme: \nBUSONI: Variations on a theme of Chopin Op. 22 \nCHOPIN: 24 Preludes\, Op. 28 \nRACHMANINOV: Variations on a Theme of Chopin Op. 22
